Karen Addie Buchelt-Montri, 69 years, of Petersburg, MI peacefully passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 in her home. The daughter of Bernard and Florence (Roberts) LaVoy she was born on June 25, 1949 in Adrian, MI.
Karen’s faith was the central, most important thing in her life and she used her talents and gifts to bless others in every way she knew how, her entire life. She worked as a hairdresser and in sales, most recently at La-Z-Boy. She was very creative and artistic and expressed that in many ways throughout her life with hobbies such as painting, sewing, and ceramics. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and traveling. She was a loving wife to her first husband, Mel, of 47 years. Karen joyfully entered a marriage with her current husband, Harold “”Chip”” Montri on June 8, 2018.
Karen is survived by her loving husband, Harold “”Chip”” Montri; children, Ray Buchelt, Angela (James) Ednie, Jim Buchelt and Amanda LaVoy; step-children, David Montri, Michael Montri, Emily (Scott) Rhodus and Amber (Mike) Conant; grandchildren, Jesus Bojorquez, Alyssa Ednie and Andrew Ednie; step-grandchildren, Brooklyn Montri, Jacob Montri, Peyton Montri, Gavin Rhodus and Ethan Rhodus; siblings, Rose Proulx, Paula Marsh and Chris Reed. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Buchelt; parents and siblings, Rena Mae, Eric LaVoy and Linda LaVoy.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 3, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Temperance, MI where she will lie in state after 10:00 a.m. in the Narthex. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
