David Hofheinz

David Lee Hofheinz passed away on July 10, 2021 at the age of 81 at his home in Temperance, Michigan with his wife, Marjorie by his side.   His battle with continued medical issues in recent years showed his strength and stubborn determination to live life to the fullest no matter what.  Despite the pain, Dave came out a hero and remained strong until the very end.  The son of Fredrick and Mary (Tucker) Hofheinz he was born June 1, 1940 in Richmond, Indiana.

As a younger man, David excelled at sports and his strength and competitive spirit brought him accolades as a basketball star in his home state of Indiana.  David continued this tenacious drive as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps where he served honorably for 6 years. 

 

David met the love of his life, Marjorie, while serving in California in the early 60’s. Together they had two children, Scott (Julie) Hofheinz and Amy Fleck (Joe Toeppe). David is also Survived by his Grandchildren,  Thaddeus (Maranda) Hofheinz, Caleb (Lierre Vogtmann) Hofheinz, Baleigh Fleck, Kyle Fleck.; Great-Grandchildren, Theodore Hofheinz, Jaiden Hofheinz, Hazel Hofheinz; brother, Fred (Sarah) and sisters, Mary Helen and Rebecca. He is preceded by his parents and his brother Curt.

 

The best times of David’s life were spent with his family and friends. His proud love of Ohio State Football was seen everywhere.  A true Buck Nut; Scarlet and Grey surrounded him.  Supporting his children and grandchildren in sports was a true passion for David, he was always their biggest and loudest fan. The family cottage was his retreat and the place where so many of the family memories are strongest.  Celebrating a joyous and blessed life at the lake surrounded by his dearest family and friends were his happiest moments.

 

Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI 48182. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, July 16, 2021 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment of ashes to follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors Conducted by Lambertville VFW Post 9656. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice.
