Alvaretta Marie Fay, 88 years, of Temperance, MI passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 in her home. The daughter of Alton and Agnes (Meiring) LaVoy, Sr. she was born November 29, 1936 in Temperance.
For over 30 years, Alvaretta had worked at the former Monroe Bank and Trust in Temperance, retiring as an assistant manager. She had also worked at Francis Foods.
An amazing homemaker, Alvaretta was known as the neighborhood mom. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and riding around on her golf cart. A rather “sassy” lady, she liked a strawberry margarita on occasion. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church where she prepared food for the funeral luncheons for many years.
Alvaretta is survived by her children, Denise (Arthur) DiPlacido, Debbie Knab, Ginger (Greg) Scheuerman; son-in-law, Paul Kempf; brother, David (Lynn) LaVoy; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James B. Fay in 2021; daughter, Vickie Kempf; brother, Al LaVoy; and sister, Dorothy Cousino.
Visitation will be Monday, September 15, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. The funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Temperance. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
