Carol “Mitzie” Banachowski, age 90, of Toledo, OH passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025. Born August 27, 1934, in Toledo to Lester and Elenore (Dollman) Boehm, Carol was a 1952 graduate of Notre Dame Academy and a 1956 graduate of the University of Toledo. Carol was a business teacher and a 7th thru 8th grade English and History teacher for seven years.
On October 6, 1962, she married Jerome Banachowski and happily stayed home to raise their three children. They were married for 43 years until his passing.
In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Carol was a servant in her church. She spent many years as a secretary and treasurer of St. Clement Rosary-Altar Society, the St. Clement Parish Advisory Council and even in her advanced years was often out delivering resources to those in need.
Her involvement in the Salesian Club spanned decades.
Carol was a social butterfly keeping her childhood, high school, and new friends close. To her children she was a kind-hearted, dependable, spirited soul.
She is survived by her son, Tom (Peggy) Banachowski of Erie, MI; daughters, Sue (Bill) Weber of Lambertville, MI, and Janet (Greg) Melms of Sylvania, OH; grandchildren, Brittany, Bradley (Amber), Stephen (Kalyn), and Jeffrey Banachowski, Chloe Melms; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Karen) Boehm; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, March 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd., Toledo, OH 43613 where visiting will begin after 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
