With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cathey McCormick-Milam, who left this world on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the age of 59. Cathey was born on February 28, 1966, in Toledo, Ohio, and throughout her life, she brought love, warmth, and kindness to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Cathey married the love of her life, Jerry Wayne Milam of Ida, Michigan, on September 26, 2003, and together they built a life filled with love, adventure, and unforgettable memories. One of her greatest joys was riding on the back of Jerry’s motorcycle, feeling the wind in her hair and the freedom of the open road. The two shared a deep, unwavering love that never wavered, and their bond will forever live on.
Cathey was a woman of incredible spirit, full of life, energy, and compassion. She had a special love for animals, especially her beloved cat, who was her constant companion. She could never turn away an animal in need and found joy in caring for all of God’s creatures. Her heart was always open, and her kindness touched everyone she met.
She had a passion for classic Western movies, often spending her evenings watching her favorites like Gunsmoke and Little House on the Prairie. She found comfort in their simplicity and the values they represented — much like the values she lived by in her own life.
Cathey attended Waite High School in Toledo, Ohio, where she made lifelong friends and unforgettable memories. Although Cathey faced the heartache of losing her mother at a young age, she carried that love with her every single day, always cherishing her mother’s memory and holding her close to her heart.
Cathey also had a deep love for nature and the outdoors, spending many days simply enjoying the world around her. Whether it was a quiet evening watching the sunset or a long ride on the back of Jerry’s motorcycle, Cathey found beauty and peace in life’s simplest moments.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Wayne Milam; her four children, Chris Ireland, Jamie Ireland, Rachael McCormick, and David McCormick; her five grandchildren; and countless friends and family who will forever hold her in their hearts. She is now reunited in Heaven with her precious mother, whose love she longed for all her life.
A celebration of Cathey’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share stories, shed tears, and most importantly — celebrate the beautiful life she lived. In honor of Cathey’s love for animals, the family asks that any donations be made to a local animal shelter in her memory.
Cathey, you brought love, light, and joy into this world, and though you have left this earth, your beautiful spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who love you. May you now ride freely in Heaven, your mother’s arms around you, and God’s eternal peace with you always.
“The ones we love never truly leave us. They live on in our hearts, in our memories, and in the love they shared.”
A funeral service will be held at Toledo Memorial Park 6382 Monroe St. Sylvania, OH 43560 in the Chapel of Memories on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 12 Noon
