Chester “”Chet”” Daniel Olszewski, 90 years, of Petersburg, MI passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania, OH. The son of John and Rose (Krapinski) Olszewski, he was born March 28, 1927 in Deerfield, MI.
Chet had worked 85 years of his life. He worked on his father’s farm since he was 5 years old, along with all his brothers. He had also worked for Martin Perry (formally the Chevrolet Plant), Revco in Deerfield, and as a millwright for 23 years at The Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti; retiring in 1989. While at Ford he was awarded 3 vehicles for his suggestions.
He married the love of his life, Sophie Rodziewicz, October 23, 1948 in St. Alphonsus Church. She preceded him in death March 13, 2017.
Chet enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He looked forward to farming the fields, driving tractors, and going to tractor auctions. For over 30 years, he loved helping at Steve’s Farm Market and talking with the customers.
Chet is survived by his loving children, Susan (Thomas) Keller, Kathleen (Morris) Markley, Donald (Sharon) Olszewski, Stephen (Mitzi) Olszewski; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stanley, Theodore, Lawrence Olszewski; sister, Helen; and 2 grandchildren.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Friday, June 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI where a memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
