Dawn Szych-Liske

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce Dawn (Olender) Szych-Liske, 57 years, was called home on August 14, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born on August 31, 1967, she was a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother “Mimi”, cherished sister, daughter and treasured friend.

Born and raised in Toledo, Dawn graduated from Central Catholic High School and remained a proud lifelong resident, devoted to her family, friends, and community. She was a dedicated member of the PRCUA and Catholic War Vets Post #1675. Her warm smile and generous spirit touched countless lives. Dawn was an avid golfer and bowler, embracing both the friendly competition and the camaraderie these pastimes brought. She was known for her amazing cooking, wherever she went she brought a dish to share – always made with love.

An enthusiastic traveler, Dawn was always eager to explore new places, yet she always found her way back to the city she loved most, New Orleans. At home, she cherished time with her grandchildren, and could often be found tending to her garden or sitting in the sunshine with a good book in hand.

Dawn is survived by her loving husband, Joel Liske of 20 years; children, Chelsea (Tim) Esper, Shelby (Robert) Holloman, Nick Liske, Emily Liske and Joel Liske II. She will be forever cherished and remembered by her grandchildren, Cayden Szych, Peyton Liske, Gemma Esper, Savannah Esper, Everett Esper and Ruby Holloman. Her memory lives on with her parents, Leonard (Connie) Olender; her in laws, Joanne Czerniakowski, Wayne Liske; and siblings, Gayle Heer, Lori Olender, Frank (Melissa) Rodkey, Casey Rodkey, Gina Olender and Christine Olender-Crooks. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Banasiak; mother, Jamie Lada; sister, Michelle Olender; father-in-law, Ben Czerniakowski; and many grandparents.

A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, 719 Evesham Ave., Toledo, OH. Online condolences may be shared
