The daughter of William and Freda (Kloppenstin) McKinley, she was born December 8, 1933 in Temperance. A 1952 graduate of Bedford High School, she married the love of her life, Raymond “Ray” Nusbaum June 19, 1954 and together they raised 4 children.
A devoted wife for 69 years to Ray, together they worked their farm and ran the fresh vegetable stand on Secor Rd. for many years. Ella loved spending time in the greenhouse planting and tending to her flowers. She had worked for Dr. Thomas Keane and later becoming a nanny to the 13 children of Dr. Thomas and Betty Keane.
A lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Ella was also an active member of the American Legion Post #192 Auxiliary and the VFW Post #9656 Auxiliary for many years. An avid bowler, she had enjoyed bowling at Forest View Lanes. Most of all Ella loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ella is survived by her loving children, Ray Jr. (Becky) Nusbaum, Theresa (Rick Gowing) Nusbaum, Betty (Chuck) Renfro; daughter-in-law, Shari Nusbaum all of Temperance; grandchildren, Raymond III (Jenni) Nusbaum, Patrick (Emily) Nusbaum, John Jr. (Sherrie) Nusbaum, Brady (Cassidy) Nusbaum, Krystal (Daniel) Romanowski, Keszia Biejag, Edward Biejag II (Carolyn), Amelia (Eric) Burkey, Andrew (Katie) Kish, Daniel (Charlotte) Kish, and Paul Keane; great-grandchildren, Charles, Lydia, Emmet, Henry, Ariella, Zaiya, Sadie, Jaiden, Juan Jr., Kherington, Keeghan, William, and Emma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray in 2023; son, John; brothers, William and Robert; and sisters, Dorothy and Glenna Mae.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. where a VFW Auxiliary and Honor Guard Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. and a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, July 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 4605 St. Anthony Road Temperance, MI. where visiting will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the narthex. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family wishes to thank all of the staff from Heartland Hospice of Monroe and all of the friends and family that provided comfort and support to Ella.
