Frank Rometski, age 86, of Toledo, OH passed away suddenly on Monday, June 15, 2015 in Mercy St. Vincent’s Medical Center. In his early career, he had worked at Willys-Overland, Libbey-Owens-Ford, and Plaskon. He retired from GM Powertrain in 1991 where he had worked for over 40 years. The son of Albert and Sarah (Rydlewski) Rometski he was born January 10, 1929 in Toledo.
Frank was a devoted husband and family man. He enjoyed keeping up with current events and having spirited conversations about politics with friends and family. In his retirement years, he enjoyed working in his yard, planning day trips and vacationing in Florida. Frank loved taking long walks with his wife Gloria at local area parks such as Wildwood and Crosby Gardens.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gloria (Zdunczyk); his son, Frank (Debbie) Rome; daughter, Diane LaPlante; grandchildren, Laura (Sal) Bhimji, Matthew (Kelli) Rome and great-grandson, Evan Bhimji. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan LaPlante and his son-in-law, Douglas LaPlante; his siblings; and brothers-in-law, Frank Zdunczyk, Ed Zawistowski, and Lee Kuhrt.
Frank is also survived by sisters-in-law, Rose Zawistowski, Joyce Kuhrt, Mary Ann Zdunczyk; brother-in-law, Joseph (Joanne) Zdunczyk and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI where the Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
