Greta Lou Hetzel, 82 years, of Temperance, MI peacefully passed away in her home, Monday, August 1, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family. The daughter of Paul and Evylean (Fralick) DeKeyser, Greta was born on October 1, 1939, in Van Wert, OH. Greta married Harry Hetzel, Jr. in 1958 and they were devoted in love for 59 years.
Greta was rich in love, tenderness, care, and compassion. She exhibited this through her great devotion to her God, family, and friends. Greta was a pure example of how to give your full attention in the aspect of listening to others. Which in turn made that person feel seen and heard. Always displaying the right amount of strength, beauty, and elegance throughout her life, she was the perfect example of selflessness and love. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, crafting, cooking, and baking delicious pies, and tending to her home and her many plants.
Greta is survived by her loving children, Greg (Laura) Hetzel, Kelly Hetzel-Straub, Melissa Hetzel, and stepson, Rick (Micki) Hetzel; grandchildren, Lindsey (Josh), Alexa, Paul, Jack, and great-grandson, Jack Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry, Jr.; son, Harry Paul Hetzel; sisters, Jeanine George, Joann DeKeyser, and Barbara Leite.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 5, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI and continue with the celebration of the Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church 8330 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
