Hedwig “Hedy” Klara Wurth, 80 years, of Lambertville, MI passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 17, 2025 in the comfort of her home. The daughter of Herman and Anna (Schmitt) Emig, she was born January 14, 1945 in Heppenheim, Germany.
At the age of 19, she took the bold step and immigrated to the United States in the summer of 1964. In the US, she married the love of her life Ernst and raised her family in Lambertville, Michigan. Hedy very was devoted to her family here and in Germany and her friends near and far. In 1978, she started her career at JC Penney in the fashion/fine jewelry department then the watch department at Franklin Park. She was fondly remembered as the “watch lady”. She made lifelong friends at JCP and retired in 2010.
After Hedy retired, her calendar was filled going to lunches with other JCP retirees, the cardio group out of Flower Hospital, Toledo Art Museum visits, Stranahan Theater shows, hockey games, Monday taco night and enjoying time at the American Legion Post 192 Sherman Osborn. Hedy has been a member since 2008 and dedicated much of her time to Women’s Auxiliary at American Legion Post 192.
Hedy is survived by her son, Steven (Jenelle) Wurth; daughter, Michelle (Adam) Bieber and her beautiful grandchildren, Alexander, Nicholas and William. She also leaves behind many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and much extended family in Germany. She is preceded in death by her brothers Karl, Hans, Willi, her sister, Hildegard, and her beloved husband, Ernst Wurth of 55 years.
Most of all Hedy cherished her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with all of them. Her memory will live on in all the hearts who loved her close and afar and the many lives she has touched.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave Temperance, MI where the funeral service will be Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Whiteford Union Cemetery, Whiteford Township, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Women’s Auxiliary Sherman H. Osborne American Legion Post 192 in Temperance, MI.
