Helen "Peg" J. Beck

Helen “Peg” J. Beck, 86 years, of Temperance, MI passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025 under the care of hospice at Blissfield Place. Born February 11, 1939, she was the daughter of Chester and Grace (Staples) Slayton, originally from Kentucky.

Peg graduated from Deerfield Public High School in 1957 and married Ronald C. Beck on January 25, 1958. He preceded her in death.

Dedicated to caring for her family and home, she was an excellent baker, cake decorator, seamstress, and quilter. Peg wrote short stories and poems, having had several published in local papers over the years. She also had a large bell collection that she looked forward to adding to.

Having a lifelong love of bird watching and enjoying nature, Peg also enjoyed traveling and had many road trips in the USA and Canada. She had several favorite pets which included Scampi, Redrick, Suzie the guinea pig and Oscar the Possum.

She was a lifelong member of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Ottawa Lake, MI.

Peg is survived by her loving children, Jean Scanlon, Ken (Jana) Beck, Daniel (Terri) Beck, 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Terri Morrow Beck and sister, Patricia Wilkins.

Visitation will be on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. Burial will follow in Pleasantview Cemetery, Petersburg, MI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michael Lutheran Church or Hospice of Lenawee County.
