Jonathan Michael Ciha

Jonathan Michael Ciha, 38 years, of Temperance, MI, passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2026.

Born on May 6, 1988, Jonathan had an extraordinary ability to understand how things worked—from engines and electrical systems to home renovations and the projects that filled his life. His mechanical ability, generous nature, and quiet confidence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Jonathan’s curiosity showed itself at an early age. Even as a preschooler, he was taking complicated things apart and putting them back together again. As he grew, so did the size of his projects—from building a fort as a child to repairing cars, renovating homes, and tackling countless projects. Working as a mechanic was a natural fit because understanding how things worked simply came naturally to him.

Jonathan worked as a mechanic by trade, but those who knew him understood there wasn’t much he couldn’t diagnose, repair, or build. If something was broken, Jonathan was the person you called. Whether it was a vehicle, a boat, a home repair, an electrical problem, or a project no one else wanted to tackle, he had an incredible ability to quickly understand what was wrong and know what needed to happen next. His confidence had a way of putting people at ease. Even before the problem was solved, there was comfort in knowing Jonathan had arrived. He genuinely enjoyed explaining how things worked, usually with an excitement and enthusiasm that reflected just how much he loved solving problems.

Jonathan took pride in everything he built and loved sharing his completed projects with family and friends. His excitement was impossible to miss, and he genuinely enjoyed seeing others appreciate the work he had poured himself into.

Nothing made Jonathan prouder than being a father. He celebrated Mikensie’s academic accomplishments and honor roll achievements, proudly shared pictures and videos of Conner playing football, and paid close attention to the unique way Kasen’s mind worked. When Jonathan talked about his children, he lit up. His pride in them was impossible to miss.

Jonathan worked hard throughout his life, but the moments he cherished most were those spent with family and good friends. Whether he was out on his boat, gathered around a campfire, or proudly showing someone his latest project, those were the moments that brought him the greatest happiness. Together, Jonathan and Kalin created a place where family and friends naturally gathered—a place of laughter, conversation, and lasting memories.

Jonathan was a proud graduate of Bedford High School.

He is survived by his longtime partner of 21 years, Kalin; their children, Mikensie Ciha, Conner Ciha, and Kasen Ciha; his parents, Michael and Tammy (Hincher) Ciha; his sister, Christy (Ciha) Glover; his nieces and nephews, LJ, Jayden, Jordan, Jamie, Janae, Skylar; along with many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Lois Hincher and Edward and Jeanne Ciha.

If something was broken, Jonathan was the one you called. He always seemed to know what to do. Now, his family and friends face the one problem they wish he were here to help them through—learning how to live without him.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI. where a sharing of memories service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Cremation will follow.
