Joshua L. LaVigne, age 32, of Sylvania, OH passed away peacefully at Flower Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Josh was born on May 9, 1992 in Toledo, OH, to Rick and Deborah (Antoszewski) LaVigne. He was a 2010 graduate of Ida High School, and graduated from Lourdes University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Josh was a Registered Nurse and worked for AbbVie Pharmaceuticals for 8 years in Oncology clinical research.
He married his best friend and love of his life, Danielle R. Oman, on August 21, 2021, and she survives. Josh is also survived by his parents; sister, Jessica (Tom) Wenzel; nieces and nephews, Addyson, Emma, Benjamin, Nicholas, and Oliver; grandmothers, Joanne Antoszewski and Mildred LaVigne.
Josh was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ronald Antoszewski, Eugene LaVigne, and Howard Navarre; uncles, Jerry LaVigne, Eugene LaVigne Jr., and aunt, Sally Fritzler.
Josh was a loving and devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. He was the life of the party and never failed to put a smile on your face. His lifelong friends were the brothers he’d never had and meant the world to him. He was a family man and was so proud of his nieces and nephews. Josh was the best dog Dad to Gus and Winston, who will miss all of his cuddles. He was an avid golfer and fan of The University of Michigan and Detroit Lions. Josh truly lived life to the fullest and made many memories with others that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Josh fought a long, hard battle with cancer for the past 4 years. He inspired many people with his constant resilience, courage, determination, and positivity. Cancer taught him to not take life for granted, to enjoy the simple things because they’re actually the big things, and to love hard. As Josh said, “Cancer may have won the battle, but I won the war” because he’s flying high, pain-free in Heaven with a healed body. The world is dimmer without Josh here, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. where the funeral service will be Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ryan Donegan officiating.
