Karen Ann Opdyke

Karen Ann (Gasiorowski) Opdyke, 68 years, of Temperance, MI passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022 with family by her side. ARegistered Nurse for 47 years, she worked for St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo from 1972 until her retirement in 2019. The daughter of Ted and Bernadine (Sniadecki)Gasiorowski, she was born June 21, 1954 in Toledo, OH. A 1972 graduate of Notre Dame Academy, she continued her education and graduated from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in 1975.

Karen enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, Michigan athletics (especially football), Detroit Tigers baseball, and Detroit Lions football. She liked to vacation in warm sunny places that had a beach or a pool nearby. She loved her grandchildren, Hillary and William, and was looking forward to spending more time with them.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Jenna Opdyke; son, Scott Opdyke and daughter-in-law, Alice Opdyke; grandchildren, Hillary and William; her parents, Ted and Bernadine; and a sister, Linda (John) Carey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, William Scott Opdyke in 2002. We’d like to thank the nurses and support staff in cardiovascular thoracic ICU at St Anne’s for the fantastic care given to Karen.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 9, 2022 in St. Hyacinth Catholic Church 719 Evesham Ave. (off Parkside Blvd.) Toledo, OH at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Toledo.
