Kathleen Guerrero

Kathleen “”Kathy”” Guerrero, 68 years, of Temperance, MI died Sunday morning, December 21, 2014 in her home after a long eight year battle with colon cancer, surrounded by loving family.

The daughter of Bernard and Stella (Horoszewski) Mikolajczyk she was born May 15, 1946 in Toledo. A 1964 graduate of Woodward High School, she then worked at Toledo Hospital for 35 years as a Billing Manager, retiring in 2002. June 3, 1967 she married Stephen Guerrero, whom she met while at Woodward High School.

Kathy was very talented in creating her floral crafts which she often gave away. She was very generous with her time and didn’t hesitate to help plan or decorate for parties or weddings. She enjoyed working in her flower garden until her health declined. She loved the outdoors, fishing, camping and hiking the mountain trails of Arizona. She especially loved tailgating and attending Michigan football home games and wasn’t shy about wearing Michigan apparel, win or lose.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Stephen; 2 sons who will cherish her memory, Kenneth and Robert; grandchildren, Kenneth Jr. and Alexandrea Guerrero, step-granddaughter, Natasha (Jeremiah) Reichow; great-grandchildren, Ella Guerrero, Mariah, Nickolas, Sophia, and Layla Reichow; brother, Daniel (Beverly) Mikolajczyk; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first son, Anthony Stephen and her parents.

Visitation will be Friday, December 26, 2014 from 3 PM until 8 PM in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Temperance where she will lie in state after 10 AM. Cremation will follow.
