Kathleen Rogers

Kathleen Virginia (Schmidt) Rogers, age 79, of Temperance passed away on April 26, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.  The daughter of Robert and Rosemary (McCloskey) Schmidt was born on March 16, 1942.  Kathy married the love of her life, Jerry Rogers, on August 20, 1960.  Their remarkable marriage of nearly 60 years was an inspiration to all who knew them.

Kathy dedicated her life to being a devoted wife and caring mother of 5 children.  She also cherished time spent with her 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Kathy was known to have a green thumb. This was evident in her bountiful vegetable gardens, beautiful rose beds, and lush indoor plants. She also enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, and watching scary movies. Kathy was an active volunteer at Bedford Public Schools, Bedford Township Fire Department, and Mount Carmel Church.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Rogers; sister, Sharon (Schmidt) McCarty; parents, Robert and Rosemary (McCloskey) Schmidt. 

Kathy is survived by her children, Dawn Alvarez, Michelle (Phil) Hinz, Matt (Kristi) Rogers, Mike Rogers, and Doug Rogers; grandchildren,  Ashley Stevens, Justin Rogers, Nicole Alvarez, Kady (Fred) Riebe, Reed Rogers, and Ryder Rogers; great-grandchildren, Calista Davenport, Amber Rogers, Shane Taylor Rogers, and Charley Riebe; great-great grandchild, Harper Reil.  Kathy was always strongly supported by her in-laws, Denny (Kathi) Rogers, Tim (Sue) Rogers, and Mike (Katie) Rogers.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that Kathy is reunited with Jerry and resting peacefully.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the  Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave.  Temperance, MI. where the funeral service will be held Tuesday May 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery.
