Katie Vandegrift

Katie Lynn Vandegrift, age 21 years, of Temperance, MI passed away suddenly and tragically on  November 18, 2016. The daughter of Mark and Brenda (Belair) Vandegrift she was born on December 17, 1994 in Toledo, Ohio.

          A 2013 Bedford High School graduate,  Katie was employed by Lucas County and was avidly pursuing a career in Criminal Justice. She attended Lourdes University, Owens, Monroe Community College as well as the University of Toledo.

Katie was a strong, smart, beautiful woman who affected everyone she met. She had a great desire to help the elderly, and constantly volunteered  at events for Habitat for Humanity, God Works (soup kitchen), Knights  of Columbus, and anywhere she could to help those in need.  Her desire in life was to be a special advocate for children so she could help children in need of homes and love.

          She will be missed immeasurably by her parents and her brother, Lawton, as well as her grandfather, John Vandegrift (Linda). Katie had many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews as well as cousins, friends and co-workers who will mourn her loss. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Nancy Vandegrift and her grandparents, Marge and Ken Belair.

Visitation will be Friday, November 25, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Temperance, MI. where visiting will begin after 10:00 a.m. in the narthex.
