Kenneth Harry Malinowski, Sr., 85 years, formerly of Temperance, MI passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026 in Bridge Hospice, Findlay, OH. The son of Harry and Florence (Hendricks) Malinowski, he was born July 25, 1940 in Toledo, OH. He was a graduate of Bedford High School.
Following a family history of military service, Ken proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1957 to 1963, stationed in New York and Cape May, NJ for his basic training. During his service, he participated in patrolling, search and rescue and was on standby during the Cuban Missile Crisis aboard Coast Guard Boat 83327. After completing his service, he returned to Toledo and worked at the Old Flower Hospital, contributing to the planning and building of the current Flower Hospital in Sylvania, OH such as the big fountain in front. A true jack-of-all trades, Ken was a millwright and head of maintenance. Ken was employed at Northwest Mechanical Contractors, University of Toledo, Bunting Bearings and retired from the Bullard Company.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved nature, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his dogs. He enjoyed shooting trap and skeet, woodworking, tinkering, boating, and spending time at his cabin up North in Atlanta, MI.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 232 Grand Rapids, OH.
Ken was previously married to Patsy (Bailie) and later divorced. In 1991 he married Ramona (Duncan) Haas.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona; daughter, Kimberly Malinowski of LaSalle, MI; bonus sons, Easy (Ann) Haas of Martin, OH, Kyle (Rachel) Haas of Waterville, OH; sister, Nancy Orzechowski of Sierra Vista, AZ; grandson, Paton Malinowski of LaSalle, MI; granddaughters, Melissa (Connor) Gavin of Toledo; Cecilia and Edith Haas of Waterville, OH; great-grandsons, Jack and Jasper Gavin, Caden Malinowski, great-granddaughter, Joan Gavin; niece, Kathy (Jack) Sprague of Hereford, AZ; nephew, Jim (Shawn) Ellison of Whitehouse OH; great-nephew, Max Ramsay of Columbus, OH; best hunting and fishing sidekick, Dick (Holly) Tabbert of Swanton, OH; nices, Jessica (Cory) Whitaker of Columbus OH, Lauren Ellison of Cincinnati, OH; nephew, Bill Orzechowski of AZ and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ken Malinowski; brother-in-law, Richard Orzechowski; sister, Barbara Morris; great-grandson, Harold “Harry” Gavin and special hunting buddy, Ted Knapik.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. Burial will follow in Whiteford Union Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Lambertville VFW Post 9656.
