There are some people who pass through life quietly. Kristin wasn't one of them. She lived with extraordinary energy, enthusiasm and determination. If she believed in something, she threw herself into it completely. Whether it was snowboarding, creating beautiful meals, building a business, planting a garden, tackling another renovation, or dreaming up our next adventure, she never seemed to know how to do anything halfway. She was adventurous enough to leave home and build a life in places that most people only dream of living. The mountains called to her, and they became part of who she was. From Michigan to Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Lake Tahoe and finally the Lake of the Ozarks, she created friendships and memories that will last far longer than her years. When we met, we built a life together around shared dreams. Buddy's Harbor became far more than a resort and marina. It became our biggest adventure, our greatest challenge, and something we poured our hearts into every single day. Everywhere I look around the property I still find reminders of her; painted doors, projects we tackled together, little traces of a life we were building. Kristin had a wonderful ability to make ordinary moments memorable. She'd spend hours creating an incredible meal and then leave the kitchen looking like a disaster zone. She celebrated growing a tomato or a handful of basil with the excitement of someone discovering them for the first time. She left little handwritten notes for me to find when I least expected them. She embraced every new gadget with complete confidence, including my DJ Decks, usually by pressing every button and hoping for the best. Somehow, that optimism seemed to work more often than it should have. She was fiercely competitive too. On skis I thought I'd eventually leave her behind. It didn't take long before I realised it was game on. No matter how hard I pushed, she'd still be right there behind me, smiling. Kristin wasn't perfect. None of us are. She was, as I've described her to those closest to me, black diamond complicated. Anyone who skis will understand exactly what I mean. Challenging at times, exhilarating always, never predictable, never ordinary, and absolutely worth every moment. I loved every part of her. We shared dreams that stretched far beyond Buddy's. We talked about another winter in the Alps, sailing, travelling by RV, and finally slowing down together after years of building something special. I thought we'd have that time. I thought we'd grow old together. Losing Kristin has left a space in my life that can never be filled. But I also know how fortunate I was to have shared so many adventures with her. She made my life bigger, richer, more challenging, more rewarding and infinitely more interesting than it would ever have been without her. I'll miss you terribly Boo. Thank you, Honey, for the adventures, the laughter, the dreams, and the love. Until we meet again. Boo xxx

I would like to send my condolences to her family. I had the pleasure of meeting Kristin in Alaska, and we used to have conversations mainly about business, which we both had in common. She had a good business mind. I will always remember her. You will be missed by your AK family. Rest in peace.
