Louis F. Truna, 94 years, of Erie, MI passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 13, 2015 surrounded by his family in the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. Louis had worked as a carpenter, building his own home, and for Dana Spicer for many years, retiring in 1983.
The son of Louis and Irene (Culkowski) Truna he was born January 23, 1921 in Toledo. OH. A Sgt. in the U.S. Army, he was a paratrooper in the 13th Airborne Division during WWII.
Louis loved his family, he enjoyed golfing, baking, vacationing, storytelling and Detroit Tiger baseball. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance, OLMC Knights of Columbus Council #8902, and a 4th Degree member of the Raisin River Assembly Knights of Columbus Council #0488.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Alice (Kosinski); children, Timothy (Evelyn) Truna, Robert Truna, Janice (Joseph) Posadny; 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Alvina Avent.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI where the Mt. Carmel Knights of Columbus will pray the Rosary followed by the 4th Degree Presentation of the Chalice Ceremony. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, May 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church where he will lie in state after 10:00 a.m. Military Honors will be conducted by Lambertville VFW Post #9656. Cremation will follow.
