Marilyn Rose (Luse) Crots , 84 years, of Ottawa Lake, MI, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 27, 2021. She was the wife of Lyle Crots who survives. She was born at home on January 3, 1937 in Riga, MI to Bernice (Logan) Luse and Perry Luse. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Lyle Crots, on November 1, 1957.
Marilyn gave her life to Jesus Christ at a young age and she spent her entire life following Him by pouring her life into serving people. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and her passion for her family was second only to her passion for her Lord. Her love for Lyle was unwavering and she was his best-friend and confidante in every endeavor. She loved her four daughters infinitely and treasured every moment spent with them. Her girls looked up to her as being one of the wisest people they have ever known. Her grandchildren were her crowning glory and she was known for showering them with their favorite treats, babysitting them tirelessly, sending them packages in the mail, and finding them the very best books to read. Her time with them was full of intentional activities as she taught them to bake and sew and as she provided a plethora of art supplies for their enjoyment while at her home. She initiated intentional family vacations that included a week away together with her children and grandchildren on a regular basis making life-time memories that are still held dear by her loving family.
Being Salutatorian of her 1957 Blissfield High School Class, Marilyn was also known as a woman of great wisdom. Even to the end, she chose her words carefully as each one was filled with insight that displayed her godly character and her love of Scriptural principles. She loved the Word of God and built her life upon its every Word. Her personal hobbies included gardening, canning, sewing, baking, and avid reading. She was a member of The Maumee Valley Herb Society, Director of her church’s library, and voting advocate. She and Lyle were recently given the prestigious “Fan of the Year” award for their support and attendance of Whiteford High School athletics.
Marilyn was especially drawn to those who were poor in spirit: hosting countless youth group meetings, helped hurting youths find a steadier path, and lovingly welcoming guests as a church greeter. Her favorite word was “hope” and she lived to bring hope to the innumerable people who crossed her path. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman: “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.” Proverbs 31:10, The Bible.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 ½ years, Lyle, and by: her daughters, Laura (Bob) Church, Marlene (with loving memory of David 5/12/63 – 10/1/19) Kujawa, Elaine (Donny) Howell, and Janell (Tony Sr.) DuPree. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren: Ryan Church, Brittany Church, Austin Church, Derek Church, Tyler (Alyssa) Kujawa (Rena and Leila), Kyle (Karlee) Kujawa, Trent (Dakota) Kujawa (Halia), Makayla Kujawa, Elisa Hope (with loving memory) Howell, Denaé (David) Howell (Phoenix), Garrett Howell, Janessa Dupree, Anthony Jr. (Mia) Dupree, and Kianna Dupree (children TJ and Kyra). She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
