Mildred Joan Roddy entered her eternal home on July 8th, 2021. She died surrounded by her beloved immediate family and close friends at home, Sanctuary Farms in Riga, Michigan, which she owned and maintained since 1971.
She entered life on December 9th, 1948 in Manhattan, New York, born of Anthony L. and Mary M. Roddy, as the seventh of eight children. She graduated from St. Peter’s Elementary School, Rondout Valley High School, and Ulster County Community College when in her family’s home in Rosendale, New York, from 1952 to 1971.
Her two daughters, Mary and Morgan Cross, and three grandchildren, Anthony and Danielle and Joseph, survive her, as do four sisters and one brother and their extensive families.
Millie’s kind and loving nature encompassed many, both people and animals. Her unceasing quiet courage, extreme patience, and sense of humor, along with her love of art and music, endured throughout her life’s many trials and illnesses.
A Holy Mass for the repose of her soul shall take place at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church in Temperance, Michigan, on Thursday, August 5th, at 7:00 p.m.
The Urbanski Bedford Chapel and George J. Moylan Funeral Home, in Temperance and Rosendale, respectively, collaborated to return her to her Rosendale home. Visitation shall be on Wednesday, July 14th, between 3 and 6 p.m. The Funeral Holy Mass shall be on Thursday, July 15th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s R.C. Church. The Burial Service follows at St Peter’s Cemetery, where Mildred desired to lie with resting family.
