Phillip “Phil” Mohr was a loving husband, father and friend. He left this world far too soon on February 1, 2021 at his home. He was 66. After graduating from Whitmer High School, Phil married his wife Karen in 1976. They had four children and raised them in Temperance, MI. Self-employed for 42 years, Phil worked hard to build a business that not only fostered relationships but provided for his wonderful family.
Phil never knew a stranger. All it took was one conversation, one handshake, even a friendly “”hello”” and that was it. You were a friend. Whether it was Sunday dinner, the Super Bowl, or a random Wednesday, you felt like a member of the family. It’s also very likely he’d have an impressive dinner spread that he undoubtedly just “threw together” with what was already in the kitchen.
There was nothing better than watching him be a grandpa. From coffee and cookies after sleepovers to nicknames and sweet snuggles by the fireplace and quality time on the porch swing, he cherished every second.
If nothing else, Phil taught everyone he knew to be positive. Through multiple health issues, he managed to keep pushing in order to be present for the moments that mattered most.
Phil is survived by his loving wife, Karen (Keffer); four children, Cory (Chelsea), Jessi (Paul), Todd and Nick (Amy); grandchildren, Caleb, Marilyn, Maddie, Asher, Wesley, River, Quin, and Brady (and one on the way); brother, Steve and countless other relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alton; mother, Mary Lou and his sister Judy.
Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Phil’s life on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave Temperance, MI where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 12 Noon. Mask’s are required in the funeral home.
Karen - Mark and I extend our deepest sympathy to you and your family !! Phil was a wonderful person -- so happy and friendly always !! Mark still remembers when they were spending hours killing bees with their bee boards on Fairfax. We pray for peace and that Jesus will hold your hand always .. Sending hugs Mark and Kandi Fischer
Phil and Karen, ever since I became friends with Jessi over 25 years ago, were and continued to be, the most welcoming, understanding, and quality people. Phil shared a sense of humor with me that I deeply cherish. Whether it was sharing a laugh about past events or simply learning something new about one another, he would always be laughing and smiling. I would also never leave hungry when I visited. He was the perfect host and welcomed my family openly.
I never got to tell him this, or that I admired his strength and mental toughness for continuing to persevere despite health issues.
We love you, Phil. Thank you for your kindness, the laughs, and the love! ❤️
