Rick J. Zawodni, 67 years, of Temperance, MI passed away Friday, March 3, 2023 in Toledo Hospital.
The son of Roman and Norma (Jankowski) Zawodni he was born September 25, 1955 in Toledo. A Whitmer High School graduate, Rick lived in the Point Place Community for 33 years, moving to Temperance in 2010. He had worked in management for Buckeye Cable, retiring in 2015.
An all-around handyman and a man of unlimited talents, Rick loved fishing, boating, and woodworking. Being able to build anything, when he was 13 years old he built a boat that his family was able to enjoy on Lake Erie. He also loved to decorate for the holidays. Known as “Edaw” to his grandchildren whom he truly loved; he will be deeply missed.
Rick was a member of River View Yacht Club in Toledo. In his younger days he was volunteer Fireman for Washington Township Fire Department.
He is survived by his loving wife, Denise (Miller); children, Richard (Dawn) Ferguson III, Alyson (Lee) Zawodni-Ehmann, Samantha (Peter) Carey, Jeffery Zawodni, Jenelle Thoman; grandchildren, Zaccary Zawodni, Sierra Ferguson, Hailey Ferguson, Sadie Joelynn Ferguson, Essie Ferguson, Steven Gramling, Jackson Carey, Chase Carey; brother, Kenneth (Christine) Zawodni; sister, Bonnie (R. Eric) Johanssen; nieces, Missy Tomes, Kara Johanssen, Sonja Gleeson, Jana Howlett, Kelly Zawodni, Kate Balduff; and Aunt, Shirley Ziemkiewicz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and In-Laws Eddie and Alice Miller, Brother In-Law Eddie Miller Jr.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI where the funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Cremation will follow.
