Robert “Rob” William Precht, Sr., 89 years, of Temperance, MI was reunited with his beloved wife, Sophie of 66 years when he passed away peacefully Monday, June 3, 2024 in St. Anne’s Mercy Hospital, Toledo. The son of Herman and Marie (Buchholz) Precht, he was born on August 6, 1934 in Delta, OH.
Rob was a graduate of Macomber High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his return to Toledo, he was employed at the St. Regis Paper Company where he later met the beautiful love of his life and his wife of 66 years, Sophie. They were wed at St. Hedwig Catholic Church on October 25, 1958 and they would spend the next 66 years together until her passing on January 13, 2024. Together, they had one son, Robert Jr., who they loved and cherished.
He liked watching Western movies, especially anything with John Wayne, and cheering for the University of Michigan football team. Rob enjoyed taking trips with Sophie and the many drives they had together. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially with his grandsons and great-granddaughters. While he is happily reunited with Busia, our hearts are still heavy with sorrow until we see them again.
Rob leaves behind his loving son, Robert W. (Rosemary) Precht Jr.; his beloved grandsons, Robert W. (Abby) Precht, III, and Michael J. Precht; his dear great-granddaughters, Norah and Prudence Precht; his sister, Donna Andersen; his sisters-in-law, Donna Kawczynski, and Shelley Kawczynski; many nieces, nephews, and extended family; his dear friends, especially, Tyler O’Brien and the O’Brien family; Sheila and Ray D’Aguanno, his beloved dog, Freddie and cats, Sally and Morris.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Irvin (Lois) Precht, Lucille (Edward) Miller, Mary (Dick) Baxter, Belinda Schultz; and brothers-in-law, Harold Andersen and James and Mitchell Kawczynski.
The family wishes to give the Progressive Care Unit of St. Anne’s Mercy Hospital and entire staff a special thank you for the wonderful care and kindness they showed to Robert, especially his nurses, Mary, Emily and Brittany.
