Ronald Ely

Ron Ely, 73 years, of Ottawa Lake, MI passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 in his home under the care of Promedica Hospice. A truck driver, he retired from Excel in 2004.

The son of Henry and Rachel (Higley) Ely he was born March 22, 1941 in Berkey, OH.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. A race car driver, he drove at Toledo Speedway and Flat Rock Speedway. His hobby was showing off his 1923 Ford T-bucket and going to car shows, traveling to Syracuse, NY for the National Car Show.
“Father Time” as he liked to be called, was a very good witness for Jesus Christ, he loved helping people and took pride in helping those in need. He was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia “Sue”(Wells); son, Tom (Pat) Ely; daughters, Rhonda Ely, Dani (Joe) Coss; brother, Jim (Marjie) Baumgartner; brothers-in-law, Dale Hillebrand, Danny (Paula) Barnes, Ronnie (Lynn) Wells, Kim (Pat) Wells; sister-in-law, Penny (Wes) Sutton; son-in-law, Ronnie Moore; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy; his parents, Chip and Rachel; and a sister, Delores Hillebrand.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 4 pm until 8 pm in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI where the Funeral Service will be held at 7:30 pm. followed by Military Honors conducted by the Lambertville VFW Post #9656. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the disabled veterans association.
