Rose Mary Spotts, 88 years, of Erie, MI, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 peacefully at home. The daughter of Bernard and Ruth (Greer) Pauly she was born on December 7, 1932 in Toledo, OH.
A 1950 graduate of Toledo Central Catholic High School, she worked for Firestone. She married Norman Allen Spotts on November 30, 1957 in St. Mary’s Church, Toledo. They made their home in Erie, MI. A dedicated wife and mother of seven, she was a devout Catholic. She served St. Joseph Church, Erie, MI on their Altar Society, cleaning and decorating the church, arranging funeral luncheons, reciting the Rosary, cleaning the rectory, working the festival chicken dinner and Fancy Booth. In more recent years, she enjoyed building puzzles, coloring mandalas and still holding onto aces while playing Rummy.
She is survived by her children, John (Sandy) Spotts, Michael (Sandra) Spotts, Richard (Maureen) Spotts, Anne (Bayard) Sweeney, Margaret (Thomas) Banachowski, and Nancy Glenn; brother, Walter Pauly; sister, Mary Ann (Jack) McQuillen; sister-in-law, Ivadell (Spotts) Wardell; 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Mary Ellen; brother, James (Mae) Pauly; in-laws, Joseph (Isabelle) Spotts, Vera (Henry) DeVries, Dorothy (Cameron) Bridgman, Donald (Loretta) Spotts, and Charles Wardell.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave, Temperance, MI where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church 2214 Manhattan Street Erie, MI celebrated by Rose’s nephew, the Rev.
