Shelley Jean Grimes

Shelley J. Grimes, 81 years, of Temperance, MI passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025 in Aspen Grove, Lambertville, MI. The daughter of Lyle and Helen (Szymanski) George she was born July 27, 1943 in Toledo, OH.

An office coordinator for Chrysler Transport, she retired in 2013 after 40 years. A 1961 graduate of Whitmer High School, she obtained her associates degree in Transportation and Logistics. November 29, 1968, she married Michael Tappan Grimes, he preceded her in death in 2016.

Shelley was an avid golfer and a workout and health enthusiast. She loved dancing, laughing, and partying. A cookie baker, making several thousand every holiday season for friends and family, she also created and crafted her famous “scrubbies”. Shelley mostly looked forward to making memories with her granddaughters. She was a lifetime member of River View Yacht Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Drina M. Rector; granddaughters, Jaelyn and Danica Rector; siblings, Joel F. George, Paula J. George; step-children, Michael T. (Janet) Grimes, Jr., Mary Beth (Chris) Kurtz; 4 step-grandchildren.

Per her request, there will be no services. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be buried in Bedford Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI.
