Vera Decker, 92 years, of Toledo, OH passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024 in Hickory Ridge of Temperance. The daughter of Frederick and Anna (Jimison) Sackman she was born February 15, 1932 in Toledo. She graduated from Woodward High School and Stautzenberger Business College.
A secretary for Helm Instrument Company in Maumee, she retired from there after 16 years. Vera had worked several years at other places including Ida and Washington Local Public Schools as a teacher’s aide, Johnson’s Fine Furniture, CCS and a truck driving school in Nevada and Michigan.
Vera volunteered her time through the years at the Ronald McDonald House, The Red Cross, was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, a Girl Scout Leader, and at St. Luke’s Hospital.
She was a member of the church choir and taught Sunday and Bible School. She also enjoyed bowling in her younger years.
She is survived by her loving children, Richard Kleinert, Nancy Weber, and Patricia Miller; grandchildren, Rhonda (Mike) Boratyn, Faith Madison, Shane (Kristine) White, Eric (Amy) Kleinert, Amber (Joseph) Sprengard; great-grandchildren, Gaige Murphy, Nicklaus Boratyn, Masin (Kimberlee) Caris, Joshua Boratyn, Samuel Sprengard, Celia White, Lyla Caris, and Benjamin Sprengard. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Anna Sackman; sisters, Joanne and Judith Sackman, Carol Griffith; and grandchildren, Kelly Kleinert and Richard White.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Toledo.
