Verlyn Gladys Ritchie, 87 years, of Temperance, MI formerly of Toledo, OH went home to the Lord on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Vibrant Life Assisted Living. The daughter of John and Eleanor (Steiger) Huntsman she was born on February 24, 1931 in Toledo, OH.
Verlyn retired from General Mills after 30 years in 1996. Her retirement was filled with wonderful friendships, family and travel. Her independent spirit kept her active and enjoying life. She was an active member at Messiah Lutheran Church in Point Place.
She was the proud mother to Raymond (Cheryl) Ritchie and proud grandmother to Michelle (Shawn) Carver, Melissa (Lorenz) Voss, Mindy Ritchie, Marci (Jon) Fanti, and Meridith Ritchie. She adored her six great-grandchildren, Brachel, Luke, Miranda, Jack, Kendall, and Maxwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ollie Ray Ritchie and siblings, John Huntsman and Eleanor Seiler.
Visitation and services were private. She was laid to rest in Toledo Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave Temperance, MI 48182. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Link: michaeljfox.org
