Wayne L. Hubbard, 96 years, of Temperance, MI passed away Friday, June 24, 2016. The son of Clifford and Florence (Osgood) Hubbard, he was born November 22, 1919 in Samaria, MI.
Wayne graduated from Dundee High School in 1937. He entered the U.S. Army Calvary Unit on January 9, 1942 and fought in the Southwest Pacific and New Guinea as part of the 112th Calvary. After four years of fighting in WWII he came home and married the love of his life, Alice Dusseau on October 6, 1945. Together they raised 4 children.
Wayne was a loving husband and father. He loved watching his boys play sports. He and Alice were members of a card club for over 25 years. They bowled on a league and in later years enjoyed square dancing. Wayne was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, especially his family.
Wayne worked for Hachman Farm Supply and was a farmer his entire life.
He was a member of the Erie VFW Post #3925, the Bedford Senior Center and ushered many years at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Wayne is survived by his 4 children, Jerry (Susan) Hubbard, Dennis (Susan) Hubbard, Velda (Ken) Weaver and Mark (Kris) Hubbard; 6 grandchildren, Shawna Horvath, Tiffany Cathey, Laura Atkins, Melissa Haley, Gregg Hubbard and Kirk Hubbard; 5 great-grandchildren, Gavin Garcia, Chase and Drew Atkins, Raegan and Bryce Hubbard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; his parents; a sister, Grace Schroder; and a brother, Clifford Hubbard, Jr.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI. The Funeral Mass will be celebratedWednesday, June 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Temperance where he will lie in state after 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Erie, MI.
