Donna J. (Reichow) Kawczynski, 74 years, of Toledo, OH, peacefully passed away in her sleep at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center after a brief illness. She now rests in the arms of her savior, Jesus Christ, and is forever reunited with her husband. Donna was born in Toledo, OH to Harold and Betty (Seel) Reichow on September 26, 1950.
She was a graduate of Start High School. On June 4, 1983, Donna married James Kawczynski and they would spend the next thirty years together until his passing on July 6, 2013. Together, Donna and Jim were active in many veteran groups, including American Legion Post 545, Catholic War Vets Post 1675, Polish Army Veterans Post 74, and VFW Post 5530. She was also a longtime bartender at VFW Post 5530 and American Legion 545. Donna was an active parishioner at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, and later, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church when the parishes were merged and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She had an active social life and was often seen about town at Red Star Diner, Bob Evans, Inky’s Pizza, or the Catholic War Vets Jude Thaddeus Post 1675 with her glass of iced tea. She loved playing scratch-off lottery tickets and lotto numbers and was known to have a few winning tickets throughout the years. Donna had a warm gentle presence, a loving smile, and a kind word for everyone she met. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Donna is survived by her nephew, Robert (Rosemary) Precht, Jr.; great-nephews, Robert (Abby) Precht III, and Michael Precht; great-great-nieces, Norah and Prudence Precht; sister-in-law, Shelley Kawczynski; close family friend, Tyler O’Brien; and many dear friends she met during her life. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold (Diane) Reichow; infant sister, Janet; sisters-in-law, Sophie (Robert Sr.) Precht, and Irene Betty; brothers-in-law, Roman, Mitchell, and Joseph Kawczynski.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 3233 Lagrange Street Toledo, OH where the funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Donna will be laid to rest with her husband at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Toledo.
