It was the 80's and, as most everyone would find out, it was the greatest time in music. At Bedford High, Bill sometimes wore a colorful David Lee Roth concert Tee from the Eat 'Em And Smile Tour. I remember being mesmerized by the shirt. Bill had quite a musical range even then, once belting out in class Billy Paul's long drawn out verse, "Me and Mrs. Mrs. Jones," but sounding more like, "Eeee eeeee, Iiii, Yiiii, Mrs. Mrs. Jones. We got a thing going on," in perfect pitch tone, completely breaking up the room. The only one more shocked was the teacher, Mrs. Jones, herself. I'm sure I 'm not alone in telling my kids, as well as grandchildren, while listening to him on the radio with them in the car that I went to school with Bill. Cool cred: Check. Back then we called him The Gooch. I was not privy to the answer to the question why. Four generations of my family have heard Bill on the radio, my dad included. I was happy to tell Bill that last our paths crossed and remember the smile it gave him. We chatted about the power and healing music can do; being a free form of therapy. Bill's time on earth was way too short, but no doubt his was a life well-lived and impactful. May his family and friends find peace in the thousands of stories Bill was a part of. Listening to more Towpath than Beasties nowadays.

Love my brother Billy, we had a blast together, I had my own room in the fraternity house. Before we went out Billy and I always played 3 songs together before heading out for the night. 1 Slaughter Fly to the Angels 2 enuff z nuff Fly High Michelle 3 Little Caesar Chain of Fools We always played these three songs while drinking a few beers, then we could go out. I was shocked to see the news of your passing You gave me my first shot in radio and so much confidence that i had what it would take to do it I'm forever grateful for crossing paths with you Rest easy Bill

Condolences to Bill’s family.

Bill and I would always joke we were birthday buddies. December 20th was a good day. He would always be the first one I texted on that day. He will be missed a lot. Love you Bill! -Your Petoskey birthday twin <3

So sad to hear about Billy. Sincere condolences to his family. He had the loudest and best laugh and wasn’t afraid to laugh at most anything. I have many memories with him and some of his dearest friends in the late 90s. RIP Billy!

I am heartbroken for Billy’s family and extended friend group. I have lasting memories of him after working with him at KISS. Billy could make anyone laugh and was a fun, passionate and professional broadcaster. I hope everyone understands the lasting impact he made in the Toledo community and to anyone he came in contact with. My deepest condolences.

There are no magic words at a time like this. I'm so proud of Bill for the way he lived life and the mark he left on so many others. Proud to call him my friend and glad we stayed in touch over the years and miles. May his family, friends, and each life he touched, be blessed with strength and sweet memories of the light Billy brought to the world. I'll see you on the other side, my friend. Rest easy and keep the place rockin' until we meet again. Love and hugs.
