Louis James Grodi, age 88 years, of Temperance, MI, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019. The son of Wallace and Rachel (Duvall) Grodi, he was born on August 6, 1930 in Dundee, MI. Lou married Mary Catherine Burton on October 8, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ida, Michigan. They were married for 61 years until Mary’s death in 2017.
Lou served his country as an army sergeant in the Korean War. He was stationed for nine months in the front lines at Heartbreak Ridge. Lou worked for 43 years at the Ford Motor Company, in Monroe, MI, retiring in 1994. After retiring, Lou enjoyed spending time with family and his many grandchildren. Lou enjoyed golfing and spent time as a ranger at Giant Oak Golf Course.
Lou is survived by his children, James (Carla) Grodi, Thomas (Peggy) Grodi and Michael (Tracie) Grodi; daughter-in-law, Theresa Grodi-Kennon; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne (Jean) and Chuck (Jane) Grodi. His loving wife, Mary; son, Mark; brothers, Alvin and Raymond Grodi; sisters, Angela Cannon, Edna Grodi, Mildred Grodi along with his parents, preceded him in death.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2019 in St. Gabriel Catholic Church Ida, MI where he will lie in state after 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Ida, MI.
