David Lee Porter, 81 years, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023 in his Erie, MI home. He was born February 12, 1942 in Lawrenceburg, TN to Clarence and Bertha (Hughes) Porter.
From 1966 until 1993 David worked at Doehler-Jarvis in Toledo, OH, retiring from DuPont in Mount Clemons, MI.
After retirement he moved to Erie to be closer to his familyand spend time with them, which he thoroughly enjoyed. An avid collector of many things, David was also a philanthropist giving to many charities for many years.
He is survived by his loving son, David W. (Tracy) Porter; grandchildren, Ashley (Mike) Messenger, Dylan Diehl, Chrystal (Zack) Bacome, David Porter, Brandon (Sara Portes), Brianna (Manny) Williams, Jimmie Casey; great–grandchildren, Rickey, Everett, Dakota, Rilynn, Boyd; and brother, Cecil (Clarabelle) Porter. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherri L. Diehl, his parents, and 11 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI where the funeral service will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Erie Union Cemetery.
