Dennis “Butch” Zylka,79 years, of Toledo, OH passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022 in his home under the care of ProMedica Hospice. The son of Frank and Theresa (Olszewski) Zylka he was born on January 19, 1943 in Toledo, OH.
Butch grew up at St. Adalbert and St. Hedwig Parishes and moved to Temperance and became a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. After he graduated from Woodward High School he joined the United States Navy. His biggest passion was being outdoors in the summer months. Butch played golf with the Buckskins Golf League at Detwiler and volunteered as a ranger at Giant Oaks Golf Course for many years. He enjoyed bowling and bowled a 300 game, playing Texas Hold’em Poker and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. Butch made pickles for anyone who wanted them. He worked for Ohio Bell, Brook Fiber and MCI Worldcom as a Telephone installer.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; daughters, Tracy (Tom) Wheeler, Stacy (Brian) Miller, Tiffany (Dave) Borkowski and Mamie (Matt) Zylka-Warner; step-daughter, Kelly McCloud; sister, Ruth Ann Zylka; grandchildren, Brooke (Joe) Ocasio, Madison, Molly and Evan Wheeler, Aliveah, Braylon, Arieah Warner, Brandon, Samantha, Justin Borkowski, Lauren (Kyle) Elkins, Logan (Korey) Hunter and Leah McCloud; great-grandchildren, Mila, Addie, Liam and Lyla. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Marok and many other family members.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church 8330 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. where visiting will begin in the narthex after 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Lambertville VFW Post 9656.
