Derek “Bud” Reyes, 33 years, of Temperance, MI passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at The Toledo Hospital. He was born June 18, 1990 in Monroe, MI. He was a 2009 Bedford graduate, where he met his soulmate at the age of 14 where they won class couple. Derek went on to Owens Community College to become a diesel mechanic.
Derek would do anything for his family and friends. He could be stubborn, but he would do it because you needed him, and he was always willing to help. He was continually working on something; it didn’t matter what it was. Derek never met a person who he wouldn’t give the shirt off his back.
Derek was an avid hunter from October 1st to January 1st if you wanted to see him it would be in the woods, he just loved being outdoors. He looked forward to taking trips up North with his family and friends and sharing his love of nature with whoever was willing.
Having a passion for anything with a combustible engine, Derek especially enjoyed his Harley Davidson Custom Sportster.
Derek loved his family immensely. He valued his time playing the guitar with his dad. He had a special bond with his brother Zach, that started on the day he was born, his birthday, and also had a special bond with his Papa. He loved his nephews and nieces tremendously and his fur babies. Meaning so much to so many people, the loss that he left will be felt by many. The world truly lost a beautiful, amazing man.
He is survived by his love of 19 years and wife of 5 years, Holly Ann (Genung); parents, Stan and Traci (Reyes) Marcum; siblings, Chelsea (Mitch) Poupard, Zach (Ruger) Poupard, Cassidy (Nate) Williams; grandparents, Nana and Papa Baldemar (Kerry) Reyes; in-laws, Russell (Donna) Genung; Special aunts and uncles Nicole (William) Reyes-Decker, Rachel (Jason) Woronec, Chris (Jamie) Poupard; niece and goddaughter, Harper; nephews, Maddox, Waylon, Bo, Jaxon, Eli; his best friend of 18 years, Kevin (Chuck) and his father, Fred who was like his own; Gary Poupard; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and beloved fur baby, Gracie.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Alexandria “Lexi” Poupard; grandmother, Brenda Smith; uncles, Chuck and Rob; grandparents-in-law, Russell and Doris Genung; and fur baby, Grizzly.
