Donnie Claussen

Donnie Claussen, age 60, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. The son of Irvin and Shirley (Osenbaugh) Claussen he was born July 11, 1963 in Toledo.

A graduate of Bedford High School in Temperance, MI, he learned carpentry by trade.

Donnie was a southern boy at heart, living in Long Boat Key, FL most of his adult life and also lived in Georgia. Work brought him back to Michigan later in life.

He loved camping on the Islands in Lake Erie, fishing, and hunting. His brothers liked to take him exploring “Up North” to teach him the outdoors, that brought him to a love of the outdoors. Donnie had a good sense of humor and was a very friendly person. He loved his family and had a special bond with his mom. An all-around good guy, there was not a soul he would not help or extend a hand to.

He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Jade of FL; sisters, Marshia (Ron) Dodds of Lambertville, Cindy (Phil) Tomesek of Temperance; brothers, Russ (Kay) Claussen of Houghton Lake, MI, Lloyd (Pat) Claussen of Kokomo, IN; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Sometimes life gets in the way and Donnie spent many years in Concord Nursing Home where he was loved and cared for by too many nurses and caregivers to name, and we thank all of you. Also, a special thanks to all the nurses and clergy at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all the comfort to Donnie and his family in their time of need.

A graveside memorial service to bury Donnie’s ashes will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in Lambertville Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI.
