Eleonora Kisembo Stundon, 82, from Fort Portal, Uganda, East Africa, began her eternal journey to join who she called her two greatest loves of her life God and her departed husband John on August 14, 2017 while at her home in Riga, Michigan.
Known to many of us as “”Akiiki””, Eleonora’s life before becoming a wife and mother was extraordinary and inspired many in her Tooro Kingdom homeland in Uganda. Her story began deeply rooted in her love of God and her family which was further enriched by her time as a nun with the Banyatereza Sisters; teaching young children; leaving to raise her younger siblings; eventually meeting John Patrick Stundon. Together they shared a passion for helping others and fostering an environment of love and compassion which was the foundation upon which they built a home for their children.
Eleonora will be reunited in death with her cherished mother Mildred Banura and beloved father Raphel Rusoke along with most of her Ugandan family; and her dearest love and husband John “”Atwoki”” Stundon.
Her spirit lives on through her brother Boniface “”Apuli”” Rusoke; sister Restituta “Abooki” Ritter; son Sean Stundon; daughters: Winifred Davidson; Bridget Kyser; Sheila Hackbarth and Mildred Waterford; her 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
Eleonora’s family will also be creating a charity organization in her honor that will help support the health care needs of the elderly nuns of Fort Portal that have dedicated their lives to caring for the people and children in their communities and for sending supplies, scholarships for children of uganda. Until that time, monetary donations are welcomed and will be tax deductible once creation is completed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made “”In Memory of Eleonora Kisembo Stundon”” to: Improvingchances.org : A non-denominational charity which supports mothers and children in rural Western Uganda. Or Good Shepard School for special needs children http://thegoodshepherd.school.
