Elma Bland, 91 years, of Monroe, MI passed away December 19, 2015 in Wellspring Lutheran Home of Monroe. The daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Lyon) Bland, she was born January 13, 1924 in Perrysburg, OH. Elma was very proud to have served our country in the U.S Army Air Force during World War II.
After 40 years of service she retired from St. Vincent’s Hospital as a buyer in the Purchasing Department. Elma was a member of the American Legion Post #0192 and Rebekah lodge #299. She was a lifelong Tigers fan and an avid bowler.
She is survived by her nephew, Richard (Carole) Everhardt; grandchildren; great nieces and nephews and daughter-in-law Mary Bland. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Bland and her brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2015 from, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI where the Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. with Military Honors conducted by the Lambertville VFW Post 9656. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of their choice.
