Evelyn Maxine Maison

Evelyn Maxine Maison, 85, of Higgins Lake, Michigan passed away peacefully Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Evelyn was born December 1, 1937 in Wyoming MI, to David and Edna (Jones) Evans. She graduated from Imlay City High School in 1955. She went on to attend Hillsdale College and worked at Bell Telephone. Evelyn married Jack Maison on August 23, 1958. In 1971, Evelyn and Jack moved to Temperance. Soon after the move, Evelyn accepted the position of secretary at Bedford Junior High School. Evelyn held this position for many years touching many students’ hearts until retiring in 1995.

After retirement, Evelyn enjoyed playing golf, traveling, bowling, and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed living at her home in Higgins Lake. She was frequently found riding her golf cart and boat with Jack by her side. She enjoyed visits from her family and cocktails on the patio. Evelyn is remembered by her contagious smile, kind heart, and the love she had for her family. She was so very proud of all of her grandchildren. After the death of her husband Jack in 2021, Evelyn spent her remaining years living with her daughter, Sheryl, son-in-law; Todd, and granddaughter; Paige where they enjoyed watching Game Show Network, having Yahtzee and Scrabble nights, and visits from family and friends. Evelyn also had frequent sleepovers at her son, Brad and daughter-in-law Julie’s house where they enjoyed cheering on the Spartans together.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Bradley (Julie Pinkava); daughter, Sheryl (Todd Anstine); grandkids, Blayne, Brian, Allison, Dan, Holly, Josh, Jack, Rachel, Brett, Kelsey, Paige, Austin; great-grandchildren, Holden, Finley, Hayes, Hayden, Shaye, and Cade; brother, David (Eunice) Evans; sister, Jean Raby; sister-in-law, Sharon Stratman; brother-in-law, Craig (Debbie) Maison; brother-in-law, Gale (Wanda) Bradshaw, and several nieces, nephews, and beloved cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack; her parents, David and Edna Evans; her mother and father-in-law, Melvin and Virginia; sister, Joyce Bradshaw; brother-in-law, Bill Maison; brother-in-law, Tom Stratman; sister-in-law, Joanne Maison; brother-in-law, Martin Raby; nephew, Troy Stratman; niece, Jennifer Evans; niece, Marsha Preston; nephew, Michael Maison, and niece, Lisa Maison.

A memorial service will be held this summer at Higgins Lake with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
