Frances “Fran” Fisher, 65 years, of Lambertville, MI passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the Ebied Hospice center in Sylvania, Ohio. The daughter of Edwin
and Helen (Karczewski) Urbaniak, she was born January 2, 1959 in Toledo, OH. Fran was a former third grade teacher for Bedford Public Schools at Jackman Road Elementary, retiring in August of 2020 after 20 years.
A 1977 graduate of Bedford High School, she continued her education at Eastern
Michigan University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer
Programming. She then went on to work as a computer operator for Bedford Township and then as a computer programmer for Jeep Corporation.
On October 12, 1985, she married Walter “Butch” Fisher at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
Catholic Church in Temperance. Fran left the work force to raise her family and when the
children started school, she furthered her education and obtained her bachelor’s degree in teaching from the University of Toledo and then her master’s in education from Spring Arbor College. A charter member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, she served as a catechism teacher and as a eucharistic minister for many years.
Fran was full of love and was a very caring person, helping anyone. A gracious host for
family get-togethers, she was an excellent baker, known for her Easter coffee cakes, Christmas cookies, and her famous oreo cookie cake. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her loving husband, Walter; children, Denise (Rob) Orndorf, Walter
Fisher; stepchildren, Dawn (Geno) Fleck, Darlene (Erik) Knapp; siblings, Ruth (Ron) Miller, Walter Urbaniak, Joann Golembiewski, Cathy (Rich) Miller; and granddaughter, Alexis Robinson, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the
Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church where there will be visiting in the Narthex after 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choosing.
