Luigina (Gina) Boraggina (D’Emilio), 83, returned to her heavenly home on 12/14/2020. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God and the Catholic Church, which she shared with those who surrounded her.
Gina was born to the late Luigi and Antonia (Dioletti) D’Emilio on September 28, 1937 in Ceccano, Italy. Being survivors of World War II, when she was sixteen years old, her family moved to Toledo, OH, where Gina was raised.
Gina married the late, Vito Boraggina Sr. on May 17, 1958. The couple settled in Temperance, MI where they raised their seven children.
Gina was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was very proud of her family and always wanted them nearby. Gina loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company, always making enough food to feed a village!
Gina was known for being a Master Gardener and an avid quilter. One of her favorite places to be was tucked away in her sewing room surrounded by her many quilting gadgets and fabrics. She liked to stay extra cozy with her space heater turned on high, and the Rosary playing in the background. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Gina is survived by her children, Angela (Michael) Luck, James (Suzanne) Boraggina, Louis (Deborah) Boraggina, Ralph Boraggina, Dino (Rowena) Boraggina, Teresa Boraggina, her bothers Dominic (Betty) D’Emilio and Cesare (Francesca) D’Emilio, many loving nieces and nephews, 16 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vito Boraggina Sr., her son, Vito Boraggina Jr., and her parents, Luigi and Antonia D’Emilio.
Visitation will be Friday, December 18, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI. The funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and will have a live stream at mountcarmeltemperance.org.
