Helen May Gulch

Helen May Gulch, 100 years in the picture above from her 100th birthday celebration, of Temperance, MI passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Vibrant Life Senior Living Temperance, MI. The daughter of Cleonic and Virginia (Flock) Ibasfalean she was born on May 11, 1923 in Toledo, OH.

She married John Gulch on June 26, 1948, and together they raised six children, building their own home and adding on more rooms as the family grew. She retired from Dohler-Jarvis after twenty years. Part of her success to a long life involved enjoying time outside and gardening, and claimed that if you eat chocolate, you can live to be 100.

Helen is survived by her children, Cindy (Herb) Bertz, Dave Gulch, Steve Gulch, Judy (Gary) Emerine, Cathy (Marty) Mitchell and Joe (Frankie) Gulch; sister, Mary Szymkowiak; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-children; 3 great-great grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren, 13 step-great grandchildren and 5 step-great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sisters, Edna Johnson and Olivia Longnecker; brothers, Gleonic, George, John and Daniel Ibasfalean.

A very special thank you to the Vibrant Life Senior Living community for the wonderful care they gave to Helen during her time there these past few months.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 5, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave Temperance, MI. The funeral service and burial will be private. Online condolences may be shared at www.bedfordfuneralchapel.com
