Hugo Richard Truscello, age 76, of Lambertville, MI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20th, 2023 with his family close by. He was born on October 25, 1946, to the late Hugo Sr. and Mary Frances (Schilling) Truscello of Lorain, OH. Hugo graduated from Arundel High School in the suburbs of Baltimore, and immediately enlisted for military service with the Navy during the Vietnam war. Hugo spent much of his naval career in Europe on the USS Randolph before his honorable discharge in 1969 after his mother’s passing.
While ashore in 1967, and working for Goodyear Tire in Pontiac, MI, Hugo was introduced to a kind and earnest bookkeeper by the name of Marjorie Moultrup. He seized on the opportunity to ask Marge out for dinner, which promptly brought Hugo to the realization that he “met the woman he is going to marry”. Hugo and Marge quickly tied the knot and ultimately moved to southeast Michigan to raise their three children. As Hugo successfully pursued a career in the trucking and logistics world, the happy couple was also blessed to welcome grandchildren and great grandchildren into their family. An accomplishment they were most fond of.
After 45 years in the trucking industry, Hugo retired from Estes Trucking in 2014 to settle into his lifelong passions of woodworking, raising golden retrievers, and being a grandparent. In 2021, Hugo and family sadly said goodbye to their wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, Marjorie. The family finds peace in recognizing that the two of them are once again together. Forever and ever.
Hugo is survived by his children, Lisa Nagy, Anthony (Marcus Boni) Truscello of Chicago, IL, and Dominic Truscello of Lambertville, MI. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Jo (Daniel) Cook and Patricia (Jerry) Matthews, and brother, James (Carl Johnson) Truscello; loving Grandpa to Joseph (Rebecca Pappas) Nagy, Mary Nagy, and Christopher Nagy; Great Grandpa to Eric Nagy, Cara Keller, Charlotte Nagy, Everett Sargent, Joseph and Francis Casteel, and a wonderful group of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Hugo is also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Truscello.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life gathering on Friday, June 9th 2023 at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 10:00 a.m. with Military Honors conducted by Lambertville VFW Post 9656 in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to the Bedford Township Veterans Center, https://bedfordtwpvets.com, or your local humane society.
