Irvin B. “Russ” Claussen Jr., 75 years, of Houghton Lake, MI passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026 in his home. The son of Irvin B. and Shirley Ann (Osenbaugh) Claussen Sr. he was born January 30, 1951 in Toledo, OH.
A devoted outdoorsman, who lived for hunting and fishing followed the rules and respected the land and animals. Known as a kind hearted person with a great sense of humor, he never hurt anybody. Russ was an avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan and enjoyed watching the TV Classic Gunsmoke in his spare time.
He had worked as a painter for Charles Man Painting Company for many years.
Russ is survived by his children, David (Sylvia) Claussen, Jason (Courtney) Claussen, Aaron (Autumn) Claussen; siblings, Marshia (Ron) Dodds, Lloyd (Pat) Claussen, Cindy (Phil) Tomesek; grandchildren, Michelle (Brad) Celski, Adam Claussen, Pom Claussen, LeAnne Claussen, Diana Claussen, Savannah Claussen, Grayson Claussen, Emmet Claussen; best buddies, Tom and Big Jim, Aunt Fumiko; many other loving family; and loving care giver and companion, Jodie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay (Ferguson) Claussen in 2013; son, Andrew Claussen in 2025; and a brother, Donnie Claussen.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 23, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI where the funeral service will be held Friday, April 24, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Bedford Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
