Jacob Gregory Parrish, age 26 years, passed peacefully July 27, 2026 in Ann Arbor, MI with both his parents holding his hands. He was born September 26, 1999 in Toledo, OH to Gregory and Toni (Fuelling) Parrish.
Jacob graduated from Erie Mason High School in 2018 and then went on to attend the Monroe County Transition Center where he had made many lifelong friends. He lived at home until he was 21 and then transitioned to a group home, living the last 3 ½ years at Eisenhower Center in Ann Arbor. His parents continued to be extremely involved in his care and took him to every doctor’s appointment and spent many weeks in the hospital always by their son’s side. Jacob’s 6:00 a.m. wake up FaceTime call every morning will be extremely missed by his parents.
Jacob was very very funny, and he was always being silly trying to make people laugh, getting his sense of humor from his daddy. Jacob loved to watch movies, his favorite movie was Shrek, he watched it daily and could recite every word! He attended St. Anthony Parish growing up and developed a special bond with Fr. Brian Hurley who he fondly referred to as “Papa Brian.” For several years Fr. Brian allowed Jacob to carry baby Jesus at Christmas Eve mass, something Jacob did very proudly and “gently”.
A lover of music, he was a big fan of The Wiggles and Josh Groban. His love for the Wiggles began as a toddler and he was able to see them many times in concert. Last summer he went to their concert with his mom and dad, in which they sang a special “happy birthday” just to him! He loved dancing, balloons, and wiggly toys. Taco Bell was his favorite fast food, which he ate weekly. He also loved Christmas and his birthday, but more than anything he loved his family!
Jacob had a wonderful last day on this earth with his family, friends, and caregivers. He listened to his favorite music, danced, sang, ate Taco Bell and drank his Starry. Jacob was our special boy, and we will forever love and miss him.
He will be greatly missed especially by his parents, Gregory and Toni; siblings, Anna (Kyle) Allen, Emma Parrish, Sophie Parrish, William Parrish; niece, Mavis Allen; nephew, Westley Allen; and many other family and friends that adored him. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Fuelling.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI where a memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
The family thanks all the special caregivers that loved Jacob like family and also thanks the critical care team at the University of Michigan for their compassionate care of Jacob and his family.
