James D. Lynch, 67 years, of Erie, MI passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 in the VA Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI. He worked as a manager at Daimler Chrysler for 32 years. The son of James H. and Helen (Lane) Lynch he was born February 16, 1949 in Harrodsburg, KY.
A U.S. Army Veteran, he served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. A devoted father, Jim was a great outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
He was a member of the Erie VFW Post #3925, Ida American Legion Post #514, Luna Pier American Legion Post #193, and a Lifetime member of River View Yacht Club.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Kay Lynn (Roberts); mother, Helen; daughter, Katie (Jeremiah) Cousino; grandchildren, Meagan, Zoey, Jeremiah, Jr.; brothers, Robert Lynch, John Lynch; sister, Marlene Bodette; and foster daughter, who he called his daughter, Elizabeth “”Floie”” Porter. He was preceded in death by his father.
A Memorial Gathering will be Friday, May 6, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI where a Memorial Service, with Military Honors, will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Erie or the VFW Post #3925 in Erie.
