Joshua Paul Duris

Joshua Paul Duris, 34 years, of Sylvania, OH passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 10, 2026.

Joshua was born on February 15, 1992 in Toledo to Anthony “Tony” and Vicki (Helman) Duris and spent his life teaching his parents and later his sister, Morgan the meaning of unconditional love. Joshua truly was the human embodiment of LOVE. His gentle compassionate character and kind heart provided the strength he needed to meet the challenges and demands of the diagnosis of mitochondrial disease with secondary leukodystrophy his family received when he was only three years old.

For many years, Joshua’s quiet resolve and strength allowed all who knew him to witness his gifts of grace and love. His journey enabled those who knew and loved him to learn from him.

Josh endured more than most are called to experience and he did so without complaint or anger. Years of medical care allowed many people to meet and share with Josh and his family. For those encounters and for the kind and wonderful care Josh received, his family is so grateful. He developed lasting, caring relationships with so many fabulous dedicated home health nurses. His nurses were like family to his family. The family could not have survived this journey without their help. Josh’s family is more thankful than words can express.

Joshua’s parents, Tony and Vicki feel both honored and privileged to be both his and Morgan’s parents. They are thankful for his lessons of humility, patience, kindness, and self-sacrifice.

He and his sister, Morgan, can now experience their joyful loving relationship without pain, suffering, or disability.

Joshua was preceded in death by his loving sister, Morgan; grandparents, Joseph and Barbara Duris, William Helman; godmother, Julie Light; and cousins, Tali Voss, Joey Duris, and Elisha Harden.

He is survived by his parents, Tony and Vicki Duris; grandmother, Colleen Helman; godfather, Floyd Light; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Ave. Temperance, MI where the funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Cremation to follow.
